The Coalition need not yet die, but it needs work.
Not just planets and an etheral "Economy", but in purpose, construction, and foundation. Maybe IC power needs to be more centralized, or OOC power more distributed. Maybe our objectives beyond "TNO must be destroyed!" should be expanded upon. Maybe a new approach to governing the Coalition and what actually draws them together should be taken.
What I do know though, is that the Coalition isn't hopeless. It isn't failed, and it can still produce interesting stories and challenge galactic superpowers for dominance. One day it'll be stronger than it is now, different, and people will wonder about the time where things seemed so low we considered disbandment. I don't think a project should be abandoned simply because it has become difficult.
There will be many changes to come (probably documented in the Spheres series), and we'll probably sink a lot lower before hitting rock bottom and starting to rise again, but for the time being I stand besides the Coalition as a faction and as a concept, and hope to write for it for a good time to come.
Oh, and on a somewhat unrelated note, I've agreed to evacuate the Eastern Coalition's entire population (those within "BDE" space) and write six planetary takeovers to relocate them out of BDE's way. All this talk of weakness hasn't helped my case with Gue much so I'm pretty much honour-bound to do this or lose another war with BDE.
