they fucked up windows media player. wmp 9 worked.

wmp 10 does not.

and windows won't let me go back to 9.

I've been using 10 for, I dunno, a few months. I hate WMP anyway though, so I use it only when required. It's so bloated, slow, crashes a lot... and ugly too. Media Player Classic works great for just about everything.

I never use it, either. But WMP 9 was awesome for putting music on my mp3 player (only because it plays wma files, which are about half the size of mp3s, but I digress). It converted them and copied them, no sweat.

WMP 10 claims to do the same thing - but it gets to a certain point and then refuses to keep copying files. It's not a space issue - my memory card is maybe 25% full. It just stops, and refuses to go any further.

I never upgraded, never needed to...despite pressure from my anally retentive PC Flatmate...

...the best bit is, I don't even use it, I use iTunes generally.

Suffice to say, I now feel vindicated, and suitably smug.

I use Realplayer, due to lack of suitable alternative. I used to use Winamp, but for some reason it always used to fuck up my computer. I got tired of rebooting to fix it, especially when even rebooting didn't help anymore.
