Spiders are more afraid of you than you are of them. Unless they are gigantic, mutated spiders, heralding the apocalypse. In which case the old "brushing them aside with paper" trick might not work. Unless, by "brushing them aside with paper" you mean riddling their hairy bodies with a hundred smouldering bullet holes.
