So I had my first military leadership class today. Aside from leadership and tactics training, we have a month that is basically fire squad training. One of the sessions, involves us(the students), using M16A2 Assault Rifles and firing them inside the Army barracks. What's worse is that most of us aren't in ROTC; half of the class is composed of business majors with no interest in actually firing weapons.

Likely they were thinking, "they're in military school, they should have basic firearms training."
Although I can see why someone would disagree. Teaching military cadets to use weapons is just stupid...

I got that part. Leading and operating a business is basically conducting a war, albeit with economics. It's more or less the idea of firing assault rifles for college credits which seems ridiculous.

If I could choose between politics and getting shooting off some rounds, I'd definitely choose the latter.

The military probably wants everyone to take a firearms class in preparation for the eventual re-introduction of the draft.
